Council of Catholic Women

CCW Christmas Luncheon December 2003
The San Antonio Council of Catholic Women was formed September 21, 1993 by a small group of parish women. Meetings were scheduled on a monthly basis and interim officers were appointed. The group immediately began to grow as women of our parish became interested in the many activities

Our first major undertaking was a pledge of $25,000 to the church for the statue of St. Anthony. Many fund raising events were held and a short 2-1/2 years later, the pledge was fulfilled and today St. Anthony welcomes all to our church.

Since 1993, our membership has grown to 200+ women. Monthly meetings, which are both business and social, are held at the church on the second Monday of the month, September through June, at 1:00 p.m. "Circle" meetings for women who cannot attend during the day are held

in the evening periodically throughout the year. Annual membership dues are collected.

Various Commissions of women are involved creating an educated, dynamic community of families working to achieve a truly Christian life. The work of the Commissions reaches further into the community and to the national level of Catholic concerns. Active committees keep close contact with our women to plan and implement many activities and programs which bring the Parish together socially while raising funds to enable the many contributions made to the Church, . Community and World causes.

Please join us at a meeting. Many lasting friendships have been formed among the members. We look forward to welcoming you as a new member of the Council of Catholic Women.

The Knights of Columbus Council 12456

  http://www.sanantoniocatholicchurch.com/knights12456/index.html

The Knights were founded by Father Michael J. McGivney, curate at St. Mary's parish in New Haven, Conn. in 1882. His purpose was to help catholic men hold on to their faith in trying times and to promote fraternity among them.

Membership in the Knights is open to practical Catholics, who are at least 18 years of age and believe in the commandments and the precepts of the church.

Being a Knight allows the member to enjoy wholesome association with congenial com- panions who are, first of all, practical catholic gentlemen.

It offers the opportunity far fellowship with those who are of the same belief, who recognize the same duty to God, to family and to neighbor and who stand side by side in defense of those beliefs.

We are dedicated to God, church, family and community. Our motto of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism is not taken lightly. Some of our causes embrace vocations, scholarships, needs of parishioners, needs of the church and needs of the community.

Come join us, we would love to have you as one of our members.

Be an Apostle in your Parish

Your Parish Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul invites you to join our ministry in silent works of charity:
  • quietly, discreetly aiding needy families ...
  • seeking and serving the distressed ...
  • growing spiritually through a gift of self to others ...

The purpose of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is to fulfill the two greatest commandments... Love of God and...Love of Neighbor

We seek out God's needy, both materially and spiritually and help where we can. No need is too great or too small.

Sometimes great resources are needed...we have them.

  • Sometimes we can do no more than listen and comfort...we are very good at it...and sometimes we may not feel very comfortable...but in coming closer to the needy, we are coming closer to God!

All of us have a great deal of expertise in various areas and by working together we can move mountains. The needy have a real need of your talents, your know-how, your concern and most of all...your love.

Anyone willing to lend a hand is welcome to join the Society. Even a few hours of your time are very precious to the needy and distressed. Remember, together we can move mountains...
